After last week’s auction recess and with two wool auctions scheduled for this week, the 2nd sale of the 2026/27 wool auction took place today, with 4 040 bales

on offer.

The majority of the offering consisted of fine micron, long length wools, whilst sustainably certified wools comprised 58,9% of the merino wools on offer.

The market returned on a positive note today, following the good market signals emanating from the Australian market, despite the strengthening of the ZAR

against the US$. The good competition on the auction floor resulted in an overall sales clearance of 95,5%.

The all-merino indicator increased by 5,0% to close on R266,20 p/kg , with the certified indicator increasing by 4,5% to close on R272,17 p/kg

A highest clean price of R356,14 p/kg (clean)(R266,00 p/kg greasy) — was paid for a single-bale lot of 15,6-micron Merino wool. The highest greasy price of

R270,10 p/kg was paid for a 2-bale lot of 17,6-micron Merino wool.

The Australian market continued to deliver positive results and gained 1,4% (AU$) from their previous sale held on Wednesday, 26 August.

The major buyers on today’s sale were Fibre Flow (899), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (607), Standard Wool SA (527) and G Modiano SA (524).

The next sale will take place on 2 September 2026, where approximately 5 671 bales will be on offer.
