The 24th sale of the 2025/26 wool selling season took place this week, with an offering of 9 108 bales, after 42 bales were withdrawn prior to the sale.

The majority of the offering consisted of medium to long length, fine micron wools, with sustainably certified wools comprising 58,8% of the merino wools on offer.

The market had a satisfactory performance today, taking into account that the ZAR traded stronger against the US$, achieving an overall sales clearance of 94,9%.

The all-merino indicator gained 0,5% to close on R252,19 p/kg and the certified indicator decreased -0,4% to close on R255,45 p/kg.

A highest price of R330,61 p/kg (clean)(R219,00 p/kg greasy) was paid for a 3-bale lot of 16,7-micron merino fleece wool.

The Australian market had another steady performance this week and increased by 1,02% (AU$) from their previous sale held on Wednesday, 4 March.

The major buyers on today’s sale were BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 634), Standard Wool SA (1 437), G Modiano SA (1 386) and Tianyu SA (1 164).

The next sale will be held on 18 March 2026, when approximately 6 679 bales will be on offer.
