Wool Sales Catalogue 06/25
published 02 Oct 2025

After a week’s recess in auctions due to the public holiday on the 24th of September, the 6th sale of the 2025/26 wool season took place today.

A total of 7 351 bales were on offer, with more than 60% of the offering consisting of fine micron, long length wools. Sustainably certified wools comprised 63,5% of the merino wools on offer.

The declining global supply of wool and low volumes reported in the Chinese processing pipeline resulted in a surge in prices on today’s sale, following the trend experienced in Australia over the past two weeks. Excellent competition amongst the buying houses for the good quality merino fleece wools and certified wools, resulted in an overall sales clearance of 97,5%.

The all-merino indicator gained 10,7% to close on R218,64 p/kg and the certified indicator rose by 11% to close on R224,88 p/kg.

A highest price of R326,03 p/kg (clean) was paid for a single bale lot of 16,5 micron merino fleece wool.

The Australian market increased by 7,7% (AU$) from the previous sale held on Wednesday, 24 September. This followed on significant gains in the Australian wool market the week before.

The major buyers on today’s sale were BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 683),  Stucken & Co (1 344),  G Modiano(1 210) and Standard Wool SA (1 093).

The next sale will be held on 8 October 2025 when approximately 7 780 bales will be on offer.
