Wool Sale

The 8th sale of the 2024/25 wool selling season took place today, with an offering of 7 482 bales.

Long and fine micron wools made up more than 60% of the offering, with sustainably certified wools comprising 58,9% of the merino wools on offer.
 
The market delivered steady results today, with good participation from the buying houses resulting in an overall sales clearance of 95,7%. The SA currency also traded slightly stronger against the US$, which resulted in an unchanged market indicator in US$ terms.
 
Both indicators closed marginally down by 0,1%. The all-merino indicator closed on R161,97 p/kg, whilst the certified indicator closed on R164,18 p/kg.
 
A highest price of R304,61 p/kg (clean) was paid for a single bale lot of 15,4 micron merino wool.
 
The Australian market edged up on Tuesday, but shed these gains again on Wednesday, to close the week 0,1% (AU$) down from their last sale held on Thursday, 10 October.

The major buyers on today’s sale were  G Modiano SA (1 593), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 545), Tianyu SA (1 509) and Standard Wool SA (1 255).

The next sale will take place on 23 October 2024 where approximately 7 395 bales will be on offer.
