Wool Sales Catalogue 21/2025

The 21st sale of the 2025/26 wool selling season was held this week, with a large offering of 12 302 bales.

Although the offering consisted predominantly of long length, fine micron wools, sustainably certified wools comprised only 40,7% of the merino wools offered.

The upward trend in the wool market continued this week with the market delivering good results, despite the SA Rand trading slightly stronger against the US$. 

An excellent overall sales clearance of 97,1% was achieved.

The all-merino indicator closed 1,7% up on R237,57 p/kg, with the certified indicator increasing by 2,3% to close on R243,47 p/kg.

A highest price of R309,05 p/kg (clean) (R218,10 p/kg greasy) was paid for a single bale lot of 16,5-micron merino wool.

The Australian market continued to deliver good results this week, gaining 0,9%(AU$) from the previous sale held on Wednesday,4 February.

The major buyers on this week's sale were BKB Pinnacle Fibres (3,492), G Modiano SA (1,956), Standard Wool SA (1,848) and Tianyu SA (1,822).

To accommodate the Chinese New Year the week of 17 February, the next sale will only be held on 25 February 2026, when approximately 9 359 bales will be on offer.
